Theater Arts

At Sagemont Prep, our theatre program provides students with a comprehensive foundation in the dramatic arts, fostering creativity, teamwork, and a deep understanding of theatrical expression.

In middle school, students begin to develop essential skills in acting, directing, set design, costuming, and managing a theater. Through hands-on experience, they explore the various aspects of producing a show, learning to collaborate effectively and express themselves confidently on stage. In addition to performing, students are introduced to the technical side of theatre, gaining an appreciation for the art of set construction, costume design, and stage management.

As students move into high school, they continue to refine and expand their skills, building on their previous experiences while diving deeper into the history of theatre. They study the evolution of theatre, from its origins in ancient Greece to the development of modern American musicals, gaining a rich understanding of how theatre has shaped cultures and societies over time.

Theatre students are required to participate in at least one play each year, ensuring they gain practical, on-stage experience. Whether acting, directing, or working behind the scenes, students develop a broad skill set that prepares them for a variety of roles in the theatre world. Through performances and productions, students build confidence, learn the value of collaboration, and create lasting memories that celebrate the magic of live theatre.

Music

At Sagemont Prep, our music program provides students with opportunities to hear, perform, create, and appreciate a wide variety of musical styles. Through these experiences, students develop a deeper understanding of music, gain confidence in their abilities, and discover their own creative expression.

On the Lower Campus, music is an integral part of the curriculum, incorporated into homeroom activities and taught during dedicated music classes two to three times per week. Students build a solid foundation in music by learning solfeggio frequencies, basic music theory, and how to read and interpret musical notation. Beginning in 3rd grade, students can join the Sagemont Prep Show Choir, where they further develop their vocal skills and perform at various events throughout the year, including at prestigious venues like the Cleveland Clinic and Weston Town Center.

On the Upper Campus, students can dive deeper into their musical passions with opportunities to join Synergy, our renowned rock band, or participate in the percussion ensemble. In addition, students can learn to play instruments such as the keyboard or guitar, and they can explore music history through specialized courses like the History of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Synergy performs at major school and community events, offering students the chance to refine their performance skills and collaborate with peers in a professional band setting.

Our musicians regularly perform at exciting venues such as Universal Studios, Walt Disney World, Miami Heat games, and Marlins Stadium. Many of our students excel in music competitions, showcasing their dedication and talent while representing Sagemont Prep. Through these enriching experiences, our music program empowers students to build skills, foster a lifelong appreciation for music, and create lasting memories.
